CONCERT REVIEWUFO & Saxon land hard at The Paramount in HuntingtonLast Saturday night two heavy metal legends, UFO and Saxon, made a stop on their Round 2: USA/Canada Tour at The Paramount in Huntington, NY. Having played two sold out shows at B.B. Kings in New York City earlier this year in March, fans were eager for this night as many of them missed the New York City shows due to the sell out... ...As if this was not enough excitement, UFO would be coming up next. And with just enough time to set the stage, fans were getting ready for a hard rock journey, this time taking them as far back as 1970 with a total of twenty two studio albums under UFO’s impressive library. Fans went crazy as Phil Mogg (vocals), Vinnie Moore (guitar), Paul Raymond (keys/guitar), Rob De Luca (bass) and Andy Parker (drums) all came out on the stage and started things off with “We Belong to the Night.” They kept the rock rolling with “Run Boy Run,” “Ain’t No Baby,” “Lights Out,” “Only You Can Rock Me” and “Burn Your House Down.” After they played “Cherry,” Mogg thanked the fans and commented on their enthusiasm for the music they were playing. After “Love to Love” came “Too Hot to Handle” which had fans screaming as Moore took the show with a stellar solo, even playing over his head and never missing a lick. Rounding out their set with “Messiah of Love” and “Rock Bottom,” which had the fans going so wild the floor of the venue was literally bouncing. Once it was over Mogg said, “Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you very much, thank you all so much for coming!” And even though he and the band left the stage it was not for long as they quickly returned to do a two song encore of “Doctor Doctor” and “Shoot Shoot.” A night of pure metal and hard rock through and through this tour is one combination of artists that will go down in history. Even if you had the chance to see them earlier this year during Round 1 do not miss the chance to see them again, and if you missed Round 1, needless to say you need to see this show, so check it out in a city near you as the tour continues through mid October... Montreal, QC, Canada 2017 UFO at Corona Theater,
Well twelve years since i see UFO! They came to the stage with the knife between their teeth, really determined to show their great know-how, and by the way, they will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year. They started with the show with We Belong To The Night, and finally I heard it as I always dreamed of hearing it,so very heavy, and with very high volume. Basicaly I never heard UFO playing so heavy, and so powerful but in meantime with such a high quality sound ! And after Saxon, maybe they do not really have a choice! Run Boy Run begins, with such heavy sound that I am amazed, Vinnie Moore decided to fix the case of any guitarist who played on this scene tonight! He is so on fire, with his disarming smile, that I almost piss in my pants. The funny anecdote of the evening occurs when a girl throws her bras to Vinnie on stage. I'm stunned i thought we we're at Poison gig! We are all back in time cause UFO began to play Ain't No Baby, from the album Obsession album, Vinnie plays masterfully the solo of Schenker note for a note. After that is the beginning of some of classics such as To Hot To Handle, Cherry, Only You Can Rock Me etc. With a very receptive audience who's screaming without stop! Paul Raymond is very close to the public and was really a rhythm guitarist more than a keyboardist tonight. It was the first time I heard it with a very loud and very rock sound! A very honorable mention for Rob De Lucas, Andy Parker and Paul Raymond for all the pretty nice choirs. We now have the magnificent Burn Your House Down with all the perfection of the voices and of course Vinnie which is completely on a mission. The time of Love To Love is a historic moment, Vinnie still makes stuff that he uses when he plays instrumental, his guitar solos fly with such power and disconcerting rapidity. Andy Parker is a very concentrated musician, he strikes with an extreme power, he's really has nothing to envy to any drummer. Surprise we heard the first chords of Messiah Of Love of the amazing masterpieces Conspiracy Of Stars.so already the encore UFO sends Mother Mary with an audience that becomes completely crazy, followed by Doctor Doctor. The show is short but it such very effective! Phil Mogg, the god of singing, with his extraordinary texts, always sings with a beautiful assurance and apparent ease, almost disconcerting. Rob De Lucas bring with him stability a great playing and he fit like a glove in the band. I have to say that with Rock Bottom Vinnie Moore as administered a collective communion to everyone by playing to the limit of the impossible, it was necessary to be there to believe it how much Vinnie Moore is a beast a bad ass a real guitar god. It was a great evening with a lot of emotion because we knew very well that it might be one last for us in Canada. After the show, when I got into the tour bus, seeing the fatigue of each member of the group, I had a quick conversation with Vinnie with whom I enjoy talking about guitars and guitar equipment, Andy is adorable and caring, i told him that it's been 42 years since I was waiting to meet him and of course we're talking about Texas, Andy living there in USA! Rob is a really caring and smile to us, Paul was smilling cause i almost lost completely my voice , we exchanged a few memories, Phil only makes jokes, Phil is happiness and disarming simplicity, a charming man, I greeted him by telling him that it was probably a last for me that I saw him face to face, thanking him for all are devoted since the beginning of his career! When I left, I allowed myself to express my opinion on The Salentico Cuts which for me is a real tank of assault as a new album. When I mentioned Vinnie's about the unbelivable the new album sound, he told Phil: "You see Frank find the album excellent" and pointed out to him that I was all smiles listening to Rock Candy, this an anthology piece by Ronnie Montrose.Greetings to all of you, remembering that I am a guitarist and not a journalist. My heart spoke to you my friends! from Frank Maynard. I sincerly want to say a big thanks to the lovely Kate Moore for all her efforts she's doing for me so I could have free access everywhere and enjoy these private time. Thanks to Frank Maynard for this Concert Review and translation. |

GIG REVIEW: UFO & Saxon Live at The Machine Shop, Flint, MI AUTHOR
Chuck Marshall Excerpt: ...The fireworks during UFO’s show at the Machine Shop were provided by the mighty Vinnie Moore. This man is simply one of the most dazzling guitarists in rock music. I have always loved the unique phrasing of Michael Schenker era UFO. Vinnie Moore made those songs his own and tore the roof off the club with his solo during “Rock Bottom” to wrap up their set. Chants of “UFO” drew the band back to the stage for “Doctor Doctor” and “Shoot Shoot”. The crowd was in heaven as they sang and cheered. Another night of magnetic rock and roll came to a triumphant end with this phenomenal performance by UFO. There is a reason UFO and Saxon are legends of rock and metal. Each band uses the passion they feel for the music they make to create epic performances. Both bands put on a superb show that captivated the souls of their fans who gathered in mass at the Machine Shop in Flint, Michigan. READ FULL REVIEW Phil MoggVinnie Moore

Rock legends UFO have announced a US tour with very special guests SAXON beginning March 9 in Houston, TX and continuing into early April.
UFO, with their long standing line up of Phil Mogg (Vocals), Paul Raymond (Keyboards / Guitar), Andy Parker (Drums), Vinnie Moore (Guitar) and Rob De Luca (Bass), are back in the US after a phenomenally successful sold out tour in early 2016. They are currently working on their 22nd studio album after the last studio release A Conspiracy of Stars in 2015.
SAXON are touring on their latest release Battering Ram together with the new double live album set Let Me Feel Your Power (out October 28 in North America), both on the UDR Music label. After great success with both US headline shows and dates with Judas Priestover last few years, the band are back as part of this great package. SAXON are Biff Byford (Vocals), Paul Quinn (Guitar), Nigel Glockler (Drums), Doug Scarrett (Guitar) and Tim “Nibbs” Carter (Bass).
UFO‘s Phil Mogg states, “We are polishing the guitars, cleaning up the drums, I have a new front tooth, and our crew have bought themselves fresh mascara, some new tunes, and an airline ticket to the USA, to be joining our old pals SAXON on what will be a celebrational tour of all our favorite places. Look forward to seeing you there! Kisses, UFO.”
SAXON‘s Biff Byford adds, “It’s great to be back on the road with UFO. The last time we toured together was in the 80’s so it should be fun and a unique package for the fans. See you in March. Keep the faith.”
Special guest on all shows is Jared James Nichols.
